HAPPY NEW YEAR and thanks to all who made it to our sold out New Years Eve show in Sebastopol, and to everyone who made 2008 another fantastic year for the band. Here were some of the highlights...

2008 HIGHLIGHTS:
Montreal Jazz Festival: Over 4th of July weekend we played two nights in a row to crowds of over 5,000 people at the "world's biggest jazz festival".

Yoshi's: Appearing at one of the country's finest jazz clubs where so many of our heroes have performed was a dream come true that warranted our debut in formal attire.

Burning Man: Our 3rd Year performing on the playa included a set at the Critical Tits Afterparty for its final year. We felt this show warranted our debut in as little attire as possible. Current TV also shot a short documentary on the band that featured our performance at Otter Oasis' giant saddle dome which you can view here.

Halloween: We "dressed up right" this year as the Muppet Show Band, Dr. Teeth and Electric Mayhem, for our sold out show at The Independent with Toubab Krewe.

2nd Annual ALBINO! Warehouse Party: Sat Jan 17 in Oakland
It's Nathan Endsley's birthday party and we've found a great warehouse venue in West Oakland to celebrate in, where we can play as late as we want. Our wacko friends from Mars, Sweet Snacks, will also perform along with a guest DJ or two. Capricorns get in FREE w/ID. This party WENT OFF last year! This year we've got pro sound and lights, full bar, and a heated out door space.

Although we've got a bigger and better warehouse, space is still limited. This is an underground event. Super-secret event location will be sent by request only. Get your 2nd Annual Capricornication warehouse party details by emailing nathan@albinoband.com.

Okay folkses, I am still in a bit of a hazy daze so this may not come out as eloquent as it could or should be but here goes. The four best things about BM for me were (in order of appearance) Cheshire Cat vehicle, Bunny invasion of Thunder Dome (Thumper Dome!), Monkey Tree and Albino! There was such an over abundance of techno "untz untz" out there that I spent one solo night on a quest to find any music that was NOT techno. Sadly, I did not succeed that night but our lovely Albino! fixed all that. Two amazing shows and I believe that now Miss Bootay and the Boys have slid right into my #1 favorite band spot! Cheese who?

I was disapointed that I did not read anything about Albino's appearance at the High Sierra Music Festival. I was there. Camped in Shady Grove. Awakened about 1 am by this incredibly energetic band who was playing in our campground at what I discovered later to be the Flux's camp. I had been awakened before on previous nights, however, this sound made me get up and go see who/what, ya know? I had to go to the potty anyhow...haha. But I stopped to see, and I thought, "Who are these guys?" I mean, I can tell the difference from a band that's gigging in a campground to get "out there", but these guys were polished! So I ran to do my business...and back to camp to wake my friend. Told him to get up, promised it's worth it! the cool of the night was refreshing, the energy I envied - am I just too old? - This band happened to be scheduled to play on the mainstage the next day at noon. Actually, I had read about them, and had already planned on checking them out. So when someone in the small crowd told me who they were, I felt priviledged. When playing their last song of the night, the horn players mingled in the small crowd while playing. What a treat! It reminded me a bit of seeing Delta Nove play at the Mojave Slabs. Bottom line - coolness! After they packed up, we went by their own camp and were treated to a sampler CD given to us by gutarist, Cal. He was such a nice guy. He asked us to be there the next day at noon. (We were). We even caught them at their playshop later that day. Anyway, Albino was one our favorite bands at the festival.

BOBOlink Music Festival~ Memorial Day Weekend

Well my mood meter went into overstoked when I heard that ALBINO was going to be playing the BOboilnk Music Fest.

Ive been going to this small festival for the past 2 years. It takes place up hwy 70 on the way to Quincy from Oroville/Chico, in a small old Train station town, turned resort, turned into shabby run down resort. The run down look to the town is actually very pleasant, its absolutely GORGEOUS with that backwoods kind of feel.
Its like a little town with a street, a bar and grill, and lots of old cabins. Its RIGHT off the highway across the Feather River. The YEllow River forks into the Feather right where town is. The main stage area is on a nice lush lawn under trees right on the river. The bar and grill has an indoor stage for all day and evening mayhem, and has on occaision at this festival lifted off into other dimensions only to be placed back in fine old tyme shape.
The best thing about Bobo after the music is the camping. I dont think ive found camping quite like it anywhere....and Ive camped all over the US. Some of the camping is right on the river on sandy pits under oak trees. IN the backdrop is a snowcapped Peak (bald Eagle Mtn) and the traintracks. (yes, they will rock your world...ever seen Dancer in the Dark?)
There is also a campfire pit by the bar and main outdoor stage, right on the river, which made those crazy early mornings even more surreal and warm.
This festival has so many interesting wierd amentities, if people knew what they were in for, tickets would sell at a blink of an eye. But its still a slight secret!
The sprit of Bobolink Fest is centered around a playful blend of Rock, funk, jam, electronic, and bluegrass and many other undescribable sounds. This takes the one sidedness of a rave and brings it into new dimensions (plus, I dont think your SO COOL unless youve experienced a bluegrass flavored rave....hahahaa)
On the menu this year are artists like Ooah, Izabella, Meltone from japan, Nevada City's Organic Flood, and possibly some Michael Travis/janover projects such as EOTO or Sporque. There are namy artists that will still be announced.

I think ALBINO is scheduled to play (tentatively) an 8-11 pm spot which is awesome. youc an go to www.boblinkmusicfestival.org for some iformation. Also, check the BOBOLINK MUSIC FEST TRIBE to check out tons of photos from previous fests.

Albino is goin gto fit the vibe of his fest so nicely, and Im very excited for them to join the fun with all the Sierra Kooks. Art, fire, and freakiness is always encouraged!!

Doing the Sunday late nite with Everyone Orchestra is going to be UTTER MADNESS!!! I thought I could get away from having an important late nite to attend this year on Sunday, and just wing it, but this changes everything. Sunday is now another GO BIG night!!!
So happy for ALBINO.....You guys deserve it, you'll show em all whos boss with teh west coast afro BEET JUICE!

For anyone who doesnt know, HSMF isnt your ordinary chill Festie. HSMF is powerful, unique, and one of a kind community not too unlike Black Rock.......NOT your every day west coast hippy fest. HSMF is like taking one part Mardi Gras, one part Charlottes Web, one part Alice in Wonderland, with a pinch of the creativity of burning man, in one nugget. The music is the most diverse line up in this part of the country. Late nites are insane, and the HIGHLIGHT of the festival, not some burned out tired late nite sets.....they are on FIYA!!
Character abound, I think ALBIINO is going to be a hit this year, even if its only on the Sunday, I am sure they will be invited back for more in 08. Just wanted to express my elation of their additioin. How lucky am I that Albino is playing my 3 favorite events of the year: Bobolink Fest, HSMF, and Burning Man? AND the Miners FOundry in Nevada city beginning of June, which is my hometown fave venue!!! HOW LUCKY AM I???? Feeling free to BRAG!! =) ITS the summer of ALBINOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I wish you had been our music for our show the next night, rather than the DJ they had lined up!! My friend Gabriel Rainbow had a wonderful time at your Saturday show in Arcata, however, so I guess we will just have to deal with you guys not being everywhere at once. BUT if you find a way to make that happen, I've got five on it!! :) It was really nice talking with a few of you after the show. Amazing energy, just like your music!

I cant wait. Missed ALBINO last time they were in town cu i was out. BOOO!!! But Im looking forward to making up fo rthat on Friday. Foothill Burners, plus the Nirvana Silly Wood Bee posse and more will bee in the HOUSE.

Coopers is changing owners, this magical lil brown venue will be no longer soon. many new seeds are being planted in the works. The Future of NC music is bright!

Ive been also pushing hard to see Albino at High Sierra 07. That fest needs a dose.

Again Im looking forward to experiencing the albino muzik close to home once again. SPANK!

thanks for such a hot, awesome show at the Bioneers after-party in Marin! It was such a gift, and felt so great to just dance everything out and (back in) after a weekend of supercharged inspiration and connection- reconnecting us to our bodies and roots after a heady time of thinkin dreamin visioning.... it was true soul food, booty shakin, energy raising. (just wish I could dance and play like those folks up on stage! ah, maybe someday ;) And I wish there'd been more time to get to hang out with everyone after the music ended. But thanks for being there! Hope you enjoyed as much as we all did.

Lost Coast...formerly known as...Donner Mountain Bluegrass Band. I just came from 2 of their performances at the Kings River Bluegrass festival, they are totaly hot.. like jump up and down, cartwheels, spinning around barefoot hot...i encourage everyone to see them when you can..an join their new tibe...lost coast bluegrass....did I mentions they are really nice folks too. its as if you owned that stage that night.

I mean, your performance at Center Camp was just so fitting and serendipitous! The sounds there alone are out of this world, add your flavor and YEAH I knew it would be so good. Ive seen you only once before in my hometown of Nevada City this summer. We ahd you all over to stay. Never go tto say HI at that crazy moment out in the desert but I really hope the band returns next year. I love your sound, Ive heard otehr new bands in your genre but ALBINO is my favorite. Looking forward to much more!

I was witness to Albino's post burn set at the Center Camp Cafe, Black Rock City, Nevada. Whether you've seen these cats once or one hundred times, sitting down is not an option when they are laying it down. They are tight, engaging, funkier than two day tuna salad and their originals are as compelling as their classic covers. Its nice to have a sure thing when it's time to step up and get your beat down. The perfect remedy to an electronic-heavy diet.

Albino played to a large appreciative crowd at Coopers Saloon in Nevada City on Saturday night. These guys and gals put on a great show with a wonderful African musical sound. They are a 12 piece band with a great horn section. I fact just after the band took a break the horn section started out playing out on the street then came in and then out onto the patio playing all the while then on to the stage with the rest of the band. What an awesome night of music. We here in Nevada City are so lucky to have such a great local music scene.

New tribe?

I love this band! Is anyone there? This tribe must be new because there isnt anything going on here.
I saw that albino is playing next friday in berkeley. I will definitely be there. Please keep me posted on upcoming music and events.
